eBox-44

A bus-powered four-in, four-out audio interface small enough to live in a laptop bag. Built-in phono preamps and a ground post meant it could take turntables directly — which made it a natural fit for timecode DJs and for digitising vinyl.

At a glance

  • Type USB bus-powered audio interface, 4 in / 4 out
  • Inputs 4 × RCA, switchable line or phono (built-in phono preamps and ground post); 1 × ¼″ microphone input with gain control
  • Outputs 4 × RCA; 1 × ¼″ headphone output with level control
  • Metering Blue signal-present LEDs on all four inputs and all four outputs, plus a phono-mode LED
  • Sample rates 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz, 16 bit
  • Drivers Low-latency ASIO on Windows, Core Audio on macOS
  • Power USB, 5 V / 500 mA — no external supply
  • Dimensions 118.9 × 125 × 46.5 mm (4.7 × 5 × 1.8 in)
  • Weight 385 g (13 oz)
  • In the box eBox-44, USB cable, two RCA cables, installation CD, manual

Connections

  • Inputs 1–4 — RCA. Line and phono level devices are both supported.
  • Phono / Line switch — set to PH when turntables are connected to inputs 1–4, and LN for everything else. The phono LED confirms phono mode.
  • Ground post — connect your turntable's ground cable here.
  • Outputs 1–4 — RCA to your mixer's inputs. Routing is set in your software.
  • Microphone input and volume — ¼″ jack with its own gain control.
  • Headphone jack and volume — for monitoring inputs while recording.
  • USB port — data and power, over the supplied cable.

Driver compatibility. The macOS v3.0.0 and Windows v2.9.53 drivers below are the final releases and were built for operating systems of that era — the manual lists Windows 98SE through Windows 7, and Mac OS X 10.3 or higher. They are unsigned by modern standards and are not expected to load on current macOS releases. They are preserved here for anyone running period-appropriate hardware.
